With our leading edge of applied optical technologies, throughout most of our history, analytical devices and measurement instruments have served as mainstay business for Otsuka Electronics. And as a member of Otsuka Group leading the total healthcare, we have also put much effort to research and develop innovative medical devices and successfully steadily expanded into the market. The history of Otsuka Electronics’ medical devices began in 1982 when we were the first to develop serum immunological test system with unique high sensitivity measurement methods and launched into the market in Japan. Since then, we’ve accumulated a deep expertise in optical and automation technologies while developing and manufacturing products through OEM and ODM partnerships with pharmaceutical as well as chemical reagent companies in Japan and around the world. The reliability of our clinical testing equipment achieved through this expertise has led to wide use at hospitals and testing centers in Japan and abroad. When creating the integrated systems to combine chemical reagent and testing equipment, Otsuka Electronics takes the initiative proposing concepts and specifications, and through repeated communications with our customers, the final product is developed.
We have continued to introduce technologies that draw attention. For example, we have developed first in the world the non-invasive infrared spectroscopy breath analyzer to diagnose Helicobacter pylori infection using breath of patients with administration of carbon 13 isotope. Now this product has been widely used in the clinical settings around the globe and also featured in the various media settings toincrease the awareness of importance among the general public.
With the certificate of ISO 13485, our product development, production, sales, and service, for all our medical devices are in compliance with the quality management system to ensure consistently high quality.
